I have had connectivity issues recently. My modem and network connections say that I am connected, but there is no address for a DNS Server or Gateway server in my Network connection properties. I have tried an IPCONFIG/RENEW and this did not work. WINSOCKFIX did not help either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Did you get answer about this problem ? Because I had same problem too.
Pelter,
Are you still using XP PRO? You mentioned the possiblity of spyware in your post a month ago. Have you tried checking for that? Here are links to some free tools if you haven't:
Ad-Aware® SE Personal Edition Spyware Removal Tool
”Spybot Search & Destroy” Spyware Removal Tool
CWShredder 2.1 Hijack Removal Tool
Have you downloaded and installed a different browser to see if it fixes the issue? Here's a link to one:
Firefox 1.0
Please read through the information in the link below. See if the various options help:

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

If you're using XP home ed. SP 2, try the "system restore" function (go to: start, then click on "help and support", then click on "undo system changes with your system restore"). Pick an earlier date restore point from when the problem wasn't occurring. It worked for me (the simple fix). I have a high speed Cable Modem connection using a N.I.C. ethernet card.
