I am refering to hte tool bar that has the clock in it...
I dont want the tool bar to go away, and I dont want these programs to not run. I just dont want to see them in the tool bar all of the time.
How do I fix this?
XP introduced a method to hide these items. Until then the program that put itself there must offer a way to hide or show itself in the systray.
You can read (page down a few times) the heady details at http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Delphi/Q_20639045.html
I have NEVER test software such at http://www.colorpilot.com/hidetray.html You first Mickey!

This trick works on my XP system at work, but my home system is still running Windows 2000. Is there any way to do this without downloading this software. I too am warry of applications from strang sources.
" system is still running Windows 2000. Is there any way to do this without downloading this software. "
The answer is to either not run said program or if the program is configurable to "not show in tray", then you use that feature.
Again, XP introduced this idea. It does not exist in Windows 2000.
