Here are a few questions to start off this discussion:
If you selected others, tell us what they are, we want to know.
Can you point us to a specific website you utilize to look up the meaning of these type of acronyms, if you're not sure what they mean?
What are some hilarious acronym you've come across that had you ROFLMAO?
FWIW have fun with this discussion! CYA
brb because, I am so busy on my MSN Messenger I guess. But on forums and Chat I use LMAO a lot.
Hi Lee,The new format for the newsletter looks great. Congrats to you and your staff. As far as IM acronyms go, I am at a complete loss that you didn't replace LOL with DDF.{*Drop Dead Funny} *My new favorite. To the best of my knowledge, it is 'burning up' the "net" as the replacement for LOL.Like Dylan said back in the day, "the times they are a changin'", however I don't think he realized to what extent they would continue.I know you're busy but if you or someone is inclined to give me some feedback, drop me a note at my e-mail address on file. Thanks,GreySky2004P.S. Don't sweat your 'pic' you look great.
Hi, Lee - great newsletter, nice format. Here's one you didn't mention: BFN (= Bye for now). It was invented - or used - by Jimmy Young, a BBC disk jockey, back in the days when the Net was only a glint in Tim Berners-Lee's eye, or even Tim only a glint in his father's!
The thing about acronyms is that you can't use them unless other people know them. So put it in your list, folks - it's pretty useful after all. ![]()
John, SongLand.com.
I thought Jimmy Young used to say 'TTFN' (Ta-Ta for now)...based on (possibly) an identical thing from the WW1 period)
but I do like DDF (mentioned earlier)
and now, as Mr Young would say, 'Orft we jolly well go...'
groMMitt, you may well be right. BFN could have been someone else on the Beeb. Well spotted. Ah well...
'Orft we jolly well go...' or: OWJWG!!

other acronyms meant. IOW, I'm looking forward
to responses on this subject.
Dave
In the page of the newsletter that had the acronyms listed above, there was one acronym that is not listed here; AFAOL. What does that stand for?
--HC
I'm betting somebody at C|net mistyped. Did you see also that there was a tiny percent value for AFAIK which did NOT appear on the original page?
OL is one position to the right of IK on the QWERTY keyboard.
ROFLMAOSUCPMP - Rolling on floor laughing my ass off spitting up chunks peeing my pants
