I am running WinXp Pro, Zonealarm, AVG, Adaware, and spy sweeper. I had an occassion to try a program called XoftSpy, and it showed that I had a worm.(clsid\e6fb5e20-de 35). When I ran House call, I came up clean, AVG, same. XoftSpy also showed some threatening files,(their words), yet no other program shows any of this. Do I have a concern or not? Thanks,
What else can you do? As long as everything is up-to-date....you cannot do much else but hunt down unfamiliar active processes.
As a mac user..I am not familiar with this problem, but it seems like you try pretty hard to keep your computer safe. Most people I know only run Adaware and Norton.. they do well, as long as they watch where they go online and are careful about e-mails.
One thing you can do, if you have not already, is make sure you turn off html in Outlook or whatever mail program you use. These things can sneak through in junk mail with embedded HTML...
And use FireFox...stay away form IE. If you can remove IE from your system...you are that much safer.
Do not use XoftSpy
