computer keeps freezing
by jas4u - 11/8/04 9:59 AMI've just cleaned out my compter and trying to reinstall windows XP PROFESSIONAL but when windows is loading it freezes up on me and I get a blue screen with this report:
Windows could not start because of an error in the software.
Please report this as:
load needed DLLs for kernel.
Please contact your support person to report this problem.
--------------------------------------------
End error.
can anyone help me plzzzzzz..

Is there a way you could re-format the drive and start over...and not the "format" that the installation disk says it does...a real format (write zeros to the drive)?

by dcrewchief - 11/8/04 6:26 PM In reply to: Re: computer keeps freezing by jas4uyou dont need to run any boot disk since windows xp is bootable. as for formating windows install disk will do this for you when it creates the partitions. i have heard the moderaters say over and over to not format the drive before installing windows. take it for what you feel its worth. it has been repeated so many times that there has got to be some truth to it.:)

Use the instructions from the Elder Geek site, "Clean Install Procedure with Illustrative Screen Captures."
Next time, try fixing the problem before doing a reinstallation.
