Hello,
A friend is having a problem with her Office 2003 Outlook app. She had to change the outgoing server on one of her user accounts, and now the date often won't attach, so the message does not get sent. Messages will often stay in her outbox for a few days, then, eventually, get a date attached to them, and they get sent. Any ideas?
I don't have the answer yet, but am looking to compare notes. This problem just started for me, and only two changes have occurred recently: I installed Norton Internet Security package, and I also installed an Outlook addin named Lookout (a search tool).
As a workaround, I find that if I "Forward" the message that's sitting in my outbox, I get a second copy with the date filled in, and that message will then go out successfully. I then manually delete the original. It's not ideal, but at least my messages are getting out.
I have had this problem with Outlook 2003 on an intermittient basis for some time with reply messages. I can enter new messages which will be sent leaving the reply message in the Outbox. My fix is to copy and paste the "stuck" into a new message, add the addresses and send. The message will then go and I can delete the "stuck" message.
I’m just wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem. I have exactly the same problem as the people earlier in this thread. Sometimes, i.e. on an intermittent basis, my Outlook 2003 just won’t send my messages. The get stuck in the outbox with no date attached to them. The only solution is to copy the message body and paste it in to another mail.
I have Norton Internet Security installed on my computer. Could that affect the whole thing?
Regards,
Mattias
Exact same problem, i have a feeling it is Norton Internet Security related, perhaps the anti-spam component or the personal firewall as my problem also started after installing this package and symantec have no solution for me as yet. Please does anyone have a solution to this extremely annoying problem?
Thanks
Looking for a solution to this nasty bug, I first came to CNET, then when I found the solution elswhere, I thought I should share it with my fellow victims:

Basically desactivate all add-ons then reactivate them, one by one. The one which created the proble for me was the "Outlook Backup Add-in".
Best wishes and happy New Year!
