First I would check for any virus. Here is an antiparasite suite to do so. HouseCall is an online scanner.

Do you have any anti virus protection and is it up to date?

When you bought your computer you should have a recieved a Windows Me Disk with it or a disk that has bootable cd on it for Windos Me. Now i have 2 warn you if there is anything on your computer you don't want removed then don't do this. This will completely strip everything off your computer and put the basic programs that all computers come with. That means you will have to reinstall all programs. Now before you try this i suggest getting a good anti-virus program that will not only find the virus but remove it. Avast anti-virus is a great program that's free. It will also give you the paths to where these files are located and you can either delete them manually or you can have the program put it in its safety folder or you can have the computer to put it in the virus vault. Also spyware could be attacking your computer. I use three programs which are : Webroot's SpySweeper (http://www.webroot.com),Lavasoft's Ad-Aware(http://www.lavasoft.com),and Spybot Search and Destroy(http://www.download.com)(click under the main category to the right called"Spyware Center")(you may also find ad-aware here). It's possible to delete the infected files manually and it will take a while. but if you don't really mind losing everything on your comp and starting over again then go with the bootable cd. o and that bootable cd usually has a label on it sayin do not use unless u want to restore windows...i believe. if you decided to go thru with the cd contact me at my email "decaturdtp@yahoo.com" and i'll give you instructions on how to save files that you want to keep in the registry. Hope i've helped
