Windows ME startup

by srhwizard - 7/12/04 8:41 AM

I have a machine that when you boot it stays on the blue screen. When I do ctrl, alt, del a file called runonce is listed. When I end the file the computer boots. Can you tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it

Runonce is a registry location. If it is also the name of a file, you can use MSCONFIG to stop it from trying to run, but you should try to find out exactly what it is first.

You may also want to do a spyware/adware check just to be sure it's not a parasite. Spybot and Ad-Aware are good and free. A search in the forum should provide more info about them.
