There is an "Unknown" file on my hard drive that I cannot delete. It is taking up 170.2 GB, leaving only 14 remaining. How can I get rid of this file and get that space back? I have a Lenovo laptop, purchased this June.
Please tell more. Is it in another partition or on your c: or d:-drive? If on a drive, in what folder? And is the name of that file really "unknown"?
How do you try to delete it and what happens then?
Kees
It is in the c: drive. It's name is "Unknown" and it is not part of any other file. When I right click on the file, I can't choose any options in the scroll-down menu. None of the choices, like "delete" are active. This is the only file on the c: drive like this.
Another thing just happened, I deleted a movie from my c: drive and the space in the "Unknown" file increased to 181.6 GB.
I hope this helps.
