Player for low-vision

by estalson - 11/5/09 8:24 AM

Looking for an MP3 player with an easy to read menu system, e.g. larger than usual characters or distinctive icons. I had a Sansa e250 and the magnifying section bar was just enough to make the menus legible for me.

I am also looking for the following features: FM, memory =/> 8mb, Windows friendly and bookmarks or at least "resume at shut-off point" to support audio books. Multiple file formats would be a plus.

I have been interested in the Cowon D2 but haven't seen one so I have no idea about the legibility of the menu system. There are so many players it is difficult to know what the possibilities are. So please chime in.

The bigger the screen...

...the better (potentially) the legibility.

Cost more, but the more real estate that a device designates for the screen is the most obvious solution to any readability issues.

The iPod Touch is really good in terms of displaying easy-to-read text.

Big Screen, big bucks

Thanks for the input. I am hoping to find a cheaper solution, but if all else fails the Touch is a possibility. I have seen description of less popular players (iRiver Spinn) with big screens and at half the price, but there is actually not place to see one locally prior to purchase. I'm just not prepared to gamble that big screen always equals greater legibility for me.

low visibility mp3 player

Hey, I never really thought of it before, but a big screen is important for people with low visibility. I was thinking of getting my dad an mp3, but with his aging vision and reading this post, I'm gonna focus on the screen display size. Thank you.
