I'm having the same problem - can't rip using WMP 12 on Win7

I don't even see an option to rip Audio CD's using WMP 12 on Win 7 (Ultimate, in-place upgrade from Vista Ultimate)

I also don't see an option under AutoPlay settings to use WMP 12 to rip when a CD is inserted. It's not even grayed out, it's just not there as an option under Audio CD's AutoPlay settings. However I do see an option to use Zune for Ripping.

I wonder if uninstalling Zune might fix this problem? (I sync my Zune anyway using a different machine running Vista.)

This is only my 4th day or so after doing the in-place upgrade to Win 7.

WMP 12 Automatic rip settings

Well I did at least find the setting that tells WMP 12 to automatically rip when a CD is inserted. It's under Tools - Options - Rip Music. (Press Ctrl-M while in WMP 12 to bring up the menu bar if it's not already there) I put a check in the box next to "Rip CD automatically" and at least now when I put in a CD in it rips. (I opted for Windows Media Audio Lossless for the format in the drop down dialogue above this.)

However I still don't see a tab in WMP for ripping but I do see an indication in the Organize Bar that it is ripping. Maybe when the ripping is finished I will see an option to rip in WMP 12's Organize Bar instead of as a tab like in the older WMP 11.

I also notice that there still isn't an AutoPlay setting option to have WMP12 automatically rip Audio CDs. Maybe this will correct itself with a restart. (I can't restart until much later this evening because I'm in the middle of a full system backup to Windows Home Server and don't want to interrupt it.)

I'll post later if any of the options change after a restart.
