We recently bought a new house, and I would love to put in a multi-room audio system.
I'm fine with getting dirty and running CAT5 cable through the house, and all that sort of stuff, but I don't need a super fancy system.
I'd rather not do it with wiresless technology, wired is always better.....
What I would like is a system that doesn't require another stereo to be plugged into it. Something that can play CD's/radio, and perhaps internet music to at least 3 different zones, perhaps a max of 4.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
Granted, it is wireless, but I really enjoyed its performance at a friend's home (~3500-4000 sq ft). More info-

Each Airport Express has a variable line out for streaming audio. You are then free to run it through powered speakers or to a receiver and traditional speakers in each zone. The whole experience (volume, zones, music, playlists, etc) can be controlled from one or more iPod Touchs/iPhones connected to your wireless network. The source material can come from any iTunes library on that same network.
Its similar to a Sonos system but less expensive. Having the system hardwired will keep any interference issues at bay (microwave ovens can really wreak havoc on wireless streaming music).
