Hi,
I'm looking for a new camera to replace my 3.2 mp olympus. It needs to take good pictures of kids indoors (quite close up but lighting not brilliant!)
I am looking at the Sony h20, panasonic zs3 or canon sx200is.how to they compare for photo quality? is there another camera which i should consider.
is the wide angle of the sony an issue, or its long flash recharge time?
These 3 cameras are looking for the same buyer, and present a difficult choice.
The image quality is just about equal.
I don't understand the question "is the wide angle of the Sony an issue". The Sony H20 does not have a lens that is considered wide angle (38mm).
The Canon has a 28mm lens, Panasonic has 25mm lens.
Both are considered wide angle.
Very few people really have a need for wide angle.
Architects, interior decorators, real estate people, construction people do have a need for wide angle.
All three of the cameras have a flash recharge time that is better than average.
The Sony puts out the most light over the greatest distance (23 feet).
The Canon puts out the least amount of light over a shorter distance (10.5 feet). A brighter/longer light takes longer to recharge.
The Canon and Sony have the best (shortest) shutter lag, with the Panasonic with the longest shutter lag.
So each camera has some strong/weak points.
As far as taking photos in low light (with no flash), none of the cameras do well there.
thanks for the reply.
Sorry i meant to ask if the narrow angle (relative) of the sony is an issue.
I intend on using the flash indoors at a range of 10 ft.
Can you recomend another camera?
I assume you mean something in the same price range.
Here is a comparison test of similar type/price cameras:

Looks like you picked the top three anyway.
