Beatles to release catalog in apple-shaped USB --not Itunes

by Slikkster - 11/4/09 9:53 AM

The Beatles catalog --other than what's been available on bluebeat.com, lol-- is being released in limited-edition format in the form of a green apple-shaped 16G USB device. Supposedly it will be in a lossless digital format. No iTunes (yet) See here:

Yep this is good and it is legal and it is expensive though.

I might consider it if Amazon discounts it to 180

like they do the box sets. Otherwise the stereo box set will work for me.

I do think its pretty innovative that the digital version comes with better than CD quality 24 bit FLAC files though. People sometimes act as if CD's are the pinnacle of audio quality when in fact they are a 25 year old format with pretty serious storage limitations.

Best sound quality you can get. Awesome.
But on a USB stick? Why can't you download it. This is crazy, what are they thinking?

Well its 16GB so the download would take forever. And its

a limited edition so having a physical object makes it a bit more a collectable. I actually think its a pretty innovative thing to do. Not unlike the way you can pay more to get special editions from Nine Inch Nails. I'm sure the download versions will come soon.

I should think. ;)

(NT) Not to mention... a 280 dollar download is a hard sell.
