Need a camera: adequate photos, better than average video...

by russtuck91 - 11/3/09 3:10 PM

I need to buy a camera, I already have a big Nikon D40 for good quality photos. What I'm looking for is something relatively small, and something that can shoot video well and for more than 30 seconds.

Here's what I'm looking for:
-compact (or ultracompact)
-adequate enough photos- nothing great but nothing that would drive the price up
-video shooting...
-in either 720 or 1080p
-with clips that last more than 30 seconds
-preferably one that records sound
-preferably one that zooms while recording
-preferably SD card slot, but anything will do
-no touchscreens.
-manual features are not an issue
-and my budget: anywhere from $200-$400

I think you are looking for the wrong type of camera.
Digital cameras provide excellent photos but only adequate video.

You should be looking at the digital Camcorders.
They can provide excellent video but only adequate photos.
