Hello,
I'm thrilled with my Samsung ln52b750 thus far. It was purchased in May from Amazon.
My only concern is that there is a clicking sound when I start up the TV. I found this website (http://www.earthinfo.org/samsung-tv-makes-a-strange-clicking-sound/) on the internet and it describes my problem pretty well.
Does Samsung have any opinion on this error? Is my TV under warranty? Help?
todd2010,
Typically, Samsung televisions come with a 1 year parts and labor warranty. Exceptions are units sold "as is" or from a different region (seller) other than the U.S. Does the television click *while* it is starting up? Or does it do it several times?

Thanks for the reply.
Here's what happens.
I click the "Power" button on the remote. The light below the SAMSUNG comes on and there's a clicking/record skipping sound coming from the back side of the TV toward the bottom (as indicated in my original link).
Once the picture shows up, the clicking/record-skipping sound is long gone. I don't get another weird sound until the next time I want to boot up the TV (and I don't get it if I have turned off the TV and then immediately turned it back on -- it's only from a fresh boot).
My TV was purchased in the US, from amazon, and not one of the "as is" models. Is there a direct (key word: direct) number to contact to set up a visit from a Samsung repairperson?
Todd
todd2010,
A click is normal, and a "record skipping" sound would not be. The only way I'm aware of to set up a service technician is through 800-SAMSUNG in order to take of a warranties repair.

I'd be interested to hear what you've been able to find out about this, as I have the exact same problem. It sounds like an unbalanced CD or hard drive spinning up when I turn the set on, lasts for several seconds then everything is fine.

It turns out that this is a MAJOR problem that I'm sure the admins on this thread know about... Expect to be referred to 1-800-samsung. I'm tempted to fix it myself... but since it's under warranty, i'll go through the 1-800-samsung route. I hear that the customer service through their contracting service isn't that great...
and they were very aware of this problem. They said they've had "a few calls" and forwarded me to the local repair shop who they've contracted out to fix any warranty issues.
The repair shop called me within 24 hours. They said they've been performing a lot of these kind of repairs, that it might be a board issue (there are two?!??!) or it might be that transistor cap issue, and they'll order the parts and give me a call back within a few days.
They've already since called me again and are scheduling a visit for Monday or Tuesday of this week. So far, I'm pretty happy with the warranty service here (even if i'm a little miffed that this seems to be a very common problem that's not fully being addressed on a wide-scale by samsung).
Just wondering how old was the TV when this problem occurred.
Have the same TV which is about 3 month old (bought from Amazon as well)
Let me know how samsung handles your problem. I have only had my tv for less than two years and it won't turn on at all now. We went through the clicking thing just like you. Get an extended warranty! You will probabley need it.
My 52B750 is about a month old. I arranged for service via Samsung online, local repair shop called me, I described problem and he said there are "two boards" he will pre-order then he can fix it in one stop. Sounded like he was familiar with the problem. Almost tempted to return the unit as it's only a month old. We'll see how it goes.
My Samsung LN-T5271FX that was purchased just about two years ago is doing the same thing. I'm not pleased. I can see Samsung getting a bad batch of capacitors or (more likely) some bean counter spending a few dollars too little on the components, but the fact that they are so adamant about not fixing these is unbelievable.
I have a LOT of Samsung equipment in my house (fridge, several tvs and more) and this makes me believe that I should just stick with Sony XBR tvs.
Thanks for all the tips. I guess that I'm going to have to haul the tv off the wall and open it up to see if I can swap out the capacitors and hope that works. Otherwise I'll buying something BESIDES Samsung to replace this tv. How frustrating.
I called 1-800-samsung, they forwarded me to the local samsung repair shop, the repair shop called within 24-48 hours, they were out a week later, heard the sound, and then replaced the whole board. They said if it doesn't fix the problem, they'll have to replace the entire screen. The good news is that it's fixed (for now) and I still have another 10 months on my warranty.
So good service from Samsung, great service from the local repair shop, and we're good to go.
I have the exact same issue. I will call the Samsung and report the problem.
Thank you for the detailed reply.
Just wondering if you were under warranty or if they extended yours?
I purchased the TV in April/May 2009 from Amazon. When I registered online, they gave me a few more months.
The TV has been WONDERFUL since the "reboot" although I can't remember my detailed settings (which have been reset by the reboot -- small price to pay, i figure)
Now I need to get a sound bar... (the sound on this TV doesn't cut it... everything else, great!)
