SATA drive to IDE converter? Is there such a thing?
by ritchie58 - 10/30/09 4:32 PMUnfortunately my new fast custom built computer's motherboard bit the dust prematurely. However I have an old dinosaur as a backup computer. The problem is my new computer used SATA hard drives and my old dinosaur uses IDE drives. All my tunes were on one of the SATA drives. Is there a SATA to IDE converter so I can listen to my jams in the old computer using the SATA drive? If so where can I purchase one and how much is it going to cost. This would be just a temporary thing until I can get enough funds to get a new motherboard for my new computer.

You should be able to find SATA to IDE converters almost anywhere....Newegg.com, Best Buy, etc.

I'm using an old Asus P4B motherboard in my backup and unfortunately it only has two USB ports which are being utilized by my fax/printer and optical mouse. Your right, Newegg or Tiger Direct is a good place to look for an adapter. My friend also has an Ebay account and spotted an Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard for my main computer so I told him to go ahead and bid on it if the price dosen't go too high. That's what I need too. A socket 775 motherboard for the Intel Core 2 Duo processor that I have. Thanks for your input.

Use one port and get three extra, assuming the hub has four ports. Or try this one from Belkin and get 6 extra ports.
