i have 8 gigs on my gateway windows 7 64bit 3 gigs on my toshiba and 512 on my mac
Using Win2k with P4 2.4 Ghz on my primary workstation desktop. Still don't want to have to buy a bunch of apps all over again to be compatible with newer XP, Vista, or Win 7. Got burned with Apple already not going to do it again with a PC too. I also run Win XP Pro on laptops on my home network with a Win2k Server (2 GB RAM 2.4 Ghz P4), older ThinkPads (T43's; 2.0 Ghz) most of which are maxed out at 2 GB System RAM
4 gig...Compaq Celeron, uses Vista Home Premium....runs great...sure doesn't need any more memory...I'm sure the 2 gig it came with would have been plenty, but I've believed all the HYPE about "more"...well, gotta go with the "flow" I suppose.
My system is an HP dc7800p with Intel Core2 Duo CPU E6850 3GHz processors and 8 GB of RAM. The OS is 64-bit Windows 7 Professional (upgraded from 64-bit Vista Professional). Sweeeeeeet!!
i have a HP PAVILION PC RUNNING WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION W/512MB OF RAM.
I KEEP IT SLOW SO THE KIDS DON'T BOTHER IT,WHEN MY DELL xps IN IN SERVICE(ALMOST ALWAYS 1330 W/2GB OF RAM..RUNNING VISTA..a wasteful OS

I have 4 PCs:
1) 2.5 GB on a Dell Dimension 2.8GHz P4 running Ubuntu 8.04 Linux (dual boot WinXP 10% of time)
2) 2 GB on a Dell Inspiron 530n 2.2GHz Dual Core E2200 running Ubuntu 8.10 Linux (MythTV theater system with smooth 1080 HD video)
3) 512 MB on a Eee PC 600MHz clocked Celeron (701) running Xandros or Ubuntu Linux
4) 128 MB on an old Chembook laptop 800Mz Celeron running Puppy Linux 4.12
2GB is more than enough even on a busy system with many programs running, if not using bloated (poorly written) software. Higher amounts are only needed for intensive tasks like image/video editing of large files.
512 MB is fine for routine office use
128 MB is limiting

I have 12 GB of Ram on Windows7 64bit Dell Studio xpx 435t i7core 940 Ati 4870 grapics with 1GB memory.
12GB is probably overkill for now, but as I plan to keep this computer for the next 5 years, I suspect in a few years 12GB will not be thought of as a lot.
32bit systems with there 4GB limitation will be obsolete in the future. How long in the future I don't know.
32 bit Vista home premium, AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 4600+ 2.40ghz
no it is not a bad os as ive heard. it has worked perfectly with everything i have thrown at it. extensive gaming no prob. peripherals no prob....i was skeptical at first..but now im happy i got it...sorry to go off topic just found an opportunity to be out with it....
I agree, Vista wasn't as bad as many people said, and after using Windows7 for about a week (intensively) it's not that much different.
If Vista didn't have such a bad rep. Windows 7 could easily have been Vista sp3.
Trust MS to make good of a bad situation; if Vista had been popular there probably would have been a free sp3 for Vista instead of a fully paid for "new" operating system!
I have Windows XP PRO SP2, Pentium IV 3.2 GHZ and 2 GB RAM and it runs very efficiently. It does need the extra RAM when running several applications.
Mi computer has 1 Gb, of ram. AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Slackware Linux OS and it is fast as a thunder.
