They usually have other models to sell you. Go with what you like!

I would not say 'BIG'

They are better for the most part then CCFL LCD's.

The cost is crazy on the LED LCD's, at less they are dropping.

Limited sizes.

LED LCD have poor viewing angle.

And thinness is taken over vs PQ... I rather have good local dimming over the tv being <1" thick, you still have the cables sticking out the back and if you wall mount it you still need space for air flow.

Back Lit only...

The edge lit samsungs are sexy however because they don't have local dimming (the ability to dial down or turn off led's) they do not carry great black levels..watch bat man or another dark movie and in the dark scenes he will disappear. The fully back lit led from LG (42lh90, 47lh90, 55lh90) is not only a better picture with more features (inteliigent sensor automatic calibration, etc.), it is also cheaper and consumer reports referred to it as "the best LED ever made. This or even the sharp back lit led (lc40le700un, lc46le700un, lc52le700un) are much better pictures and can deliver the blacks close to plasma. The LG is better for brighter rooms because of the intelligent sensor and the screen is matte finish so it won't glare up on you...p.s. i'm unbias because i'm a plasma guy..these are things i've noticed because i sell them for a living....and one other point worth taking away....the samsungs pay us more...a lot more....

samsung margins high?

So you are saying there's a greater profit margin on the Sammys? Just curious.

sort of...

the margin in all led's are greater than that of standard lcd but the sammys are significantly more expensive, for example the 47 inch lg might sell for $1600 and have $500 in it...the similar sammy 46 inch 240 hz led will sell for around $2200-2400 and have $700-750 in it...meaning the lg has just over 33% mark up but the sammys have around 25-30% so the sammys technically have lower mark up but will pay the salesman a lot more... also these are examples and not real costs... I'm just giving this as a warning that you should trust your eye..if you honestly believe the sammy looks better than the lg or sharp (on same pictures and settings) than go for it, it is a cool tv with a lot of features (internet, widgets, thinness, etc.) but don't pull the trigger just b/c of the hype...
