I am hooking up a scientific atlanta explorer HD cable box from Comcast, to a Samsung 7100. I am runnung HDMI / DVI cables from cable box to tv. Video is fine. I am running a rca to 3.5mm mini cord from audio out on the cable box to audio in on the tv. No Audio. Help.
maximilian09,
Does the cable box have only DVI out? You might consider asking your cable/sat company for an upgraded box. The benefit of HDMI is that both audio and video can be passed through the same cable.

The cable box is scientific atlantic explorer 3250 HD. It only has DVI out, which does give me video. It also offers optical audio out and digital audio out. I have hooked up digital audio out with an rca to 3.5" mini cord that plugs into digital audio in on the tv. No audio with this configuration
The Audio input (3.5 mm jack) on your TV is analog. Therefore, you should use 'RCA stereo-to-3.5 mm stereo' cable. On the cable box, the audio outputs are red and white and are directly above Digital Audio Out.

maximilian09,
Optical would also be an option.
