I recently decided to check to see if my Samsung DLP tv (HLT5676SX/XAA) had a firmware update available. I checked on Samsung's web site, and it did. So, I went through the process to download it and extract the self-extracting zip executable onto a USB drive, as specified by the PDF file showing the procedure. I installed the update as specified, and BOOM. The TV is now a brick. If you power it off and back on, it makes the start up sound, I hear the wheel start to spin, I see the lamp showing that glow it does when the TV has no video signal on it (black screen, but light emitting from back). The TV won't turn on. No picture, no sound. No response to any of the buttons on the TV itself, and the only response from pressing remote buttons is seeing the light flicker showing that it's seeing the IR signal from the remote.
I've read where other people say that they too have had this happen and they have had to replace their "logic board". The TV is well passed its warranty and Id like to try to replace the board myself (famous last words: it's okay I'm an electrical engineer). Can anyone tell me which part number this is?
arocha1980,
Sorry to hear this happened to you.
The parts can be found on www.samsungparts.com, and if you can't find what you're looking for there, call them at 800-627-4368 and someone there should be able to assist you.

I tried the website and I was unclear as to which board I should be ordering:
"ASSY DMD BOARD W/O DLP CHIP/CHECK VER.", "ASSY PCB MAIN", or do I just need the chip "DLP CHIP/DIGITAL LIGHT PROCESSOR"
I called the phone number and they were thoroughly unhelpful, they just kept referring me to the website.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Correction: it's a HLT5076SX/XAA
arocha1980,
I can't diagnose the television. Unfortunately, I can't make any recommendations. If I suggest one thing, and it's wrong, then I'm blamed for the problem. I don't know what you need to fix the problem.
