I'm sorry, after Norton failed to stop the lastest volley of adware/spyware, and their attempts to manually remove the virus/spyware.. it also failed. My end run/result. Just restore. Fresh brand new computer. And spyware gone. Who needs Norton?
And in your last article I read....
"How do I clear or clean out my Windows XP msconfig selection start-up menu? A lot of old programs that have been deleted off my PC still show up there."
Once again, I'd rather restore .. with XP? Why not!
Considering how much my time is worth .. I'd rather restore. Not to mention, there are different dates to pick from. I like it.

AVG is a very good free progrom and also a squared is exceptional at getting rid of spyware along with adaware
I recommend using AVG from grisoft.com .. It's free and provides free timely updates. Avast is also good as a free antivirus. Using either or both doesn't seem to hurt speed on my puter, as I found when using Norton.
Go to http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl7.php and download their free version of AVG. I work at SkyTel and a lot of guys with a lot of different OS systems including XP use it and love it. It has free updates and has kept me virus free since I got it. You can schedule automatic updates with it, but it works and works in the background transparently.
Yes I would recommend AVG 6.0 Anti-Virus System anytime over all the other ones I ever tried before. It catches viruses coming in and let you know before you even open your mail. It updates automatically and test daily while you keep working on your computer and it. I haven't had any problems with it and I had many viruses and worms trying to come into my computer and it was always caught in time by AVG. You can get it free at www.grisoft.com
Hi,
I've been using a program called AntiVir Guard for a few years now. It's free to private users. It's worked very well for me under Windows 98, ME & XP. You can check it out at www.hbedv.com/en/. It managed to catch one that slipped past my trial version of Norton AV. I highly recommend it. It's easy to use, updated regularly & easy to configure. Give it a shot.
avg-------- by Grissoft has an excellent virus program and the private individual version is free. version is free

Avast is a very good free program, but I am currently running a very competitively priced trial version of an anti-virus program which discovered a Boot sector virus shortly after installation. I guessed that something was on my computer, but nothing showed from Avast or several online scans from McAfee, Trend Micro, Norton and Panda.
The name of this program? BitDefender Standard Edition version 7.2 http://www.bitdefender.com
