System Mechanic

I bought System Mechanic and I like it. Though I have a question about it. You can put it on auto pilot. Is it good doing that and letting utilities run themselves? Also the memory defrag utility in it is it good doing that? Is it good defragging your memory? Thank you.

hello,

The program you are refering to is pretty descent, but i just like to see what's going on and make manual backups while fixing or working with the system so i am not much for the "auto" mode .

Personally I wouldn't.

I wouldn't have purchased it.

These System Optimisers can cause serious problems if the user does not know or understand what they are doing. All computer systems are different, and I find it difficult to believe that a 'one-stop' utility can understand every single system except in the most general terms.

If you are going to use it, I would not set it to Automatic, and would keep a very careful eye on what it is doing.

Memory does not need defragging. The Operating System takes care of memory and uses just as much as is required, replacing data as and when needed.

Mark
