Where are you saving the files to? What is your procedure for saving the file? Which file type? Unfortunately, you've given us very little information to go on here..
If you haven't installed the latest service pack for your Windows and Office version, please do so.
Generally, Word documents don't just "vanish", AS LONG AS, they were saved correctly and they aren't corrupted. Are there other operators on the computer other than yourself?
