Here is my problem:When I started my computer a couple of days ago the screen stayed black and had the mouse pointer on it. I waited a few minutes but nothing happened. I rebooted and the same thing happened. I hit restart and pressed the Esc key ant the system started to post and stopped. This message came up Warning: System boot fail. Your system boot fail or post interrupted. Please enter setup to load default settings and reboot again.
Press F1 to run setup
Press F2 to load default settings.
I pressed F1 and setup looked to be in order so I exited and rebooted. When that message came up I hit F2 and the system booted up ok. I tried restoring to a few different dates but that didn’t solve the problem. I also made sure that I have the latest video card drivers and monitor drivers. The system won’t start in safe mode either. Can anyone help?

Since the BIOS settings worked at defaults why not get the BIOS screen and load the defaults there then SAVE THEM?

I did that but it still didn't make a difference. When I choose save and exit the system doesn't reboot. I still have to hit the restart button and press the Esc key then the F2 so it will boot up.

Is the date wrong? If so, replace the CMOS BATTERY and try again.

The Bios date and everything else looks ok. I tried clearing the CMOS but nothing changed. I even went out and got a new CMOS battery but that didn't work either. I went into msconfig and enabled everything and that didn't work. I'd be pulling out my hair if I had any.

Stop changing Windows. "Press F2 to load default settings." is your clue it's 99% sure it's a machine issue.

I see there are BETA and other versions of BIOS available. Ask the machine's maker what version they suggest.

I found 2 major lines of thought.
1. New cmos battery.
2. New (or old?) bios version.
Again, the link was for fodder or thinking material. That is, what are other people writing about this?

I've changed the battery and got the latest bios update. I guess I'll just have to deal with it the way it is. Thanks anyway.
