I need a P2P download software/bit torrent client 4 Vista Home Premium.
I tried Azureus/Vuze but can't use it since it won't take a URL to a torrent from a website and download it to my computer.
Also don't want Bit Torrent since I've heard it's terribly slow.
I just tried uTorrent but it won't install correctly.
So I need something else which is fast or pretty fast and will work on my computer, and one that will take URLs I put in when I want to download a torrent from a website.
Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks.
since so much malware is offered through pirated files via P2P, why you would want to go that route.

Infected downloads? I've had a few but then just deleted them before they infected me, no big deal. If I were to actually get infected, which hasn't happened in 3 years, then I'd simply use my disk image I made as a backup of my entire computer (with OS included) and in 19 minutes I'm up and running again so it doesn't even put me out.
And just saving some time here for all involved. It's against forum rules to help you in the pirating of music, movies, software, or anything else I might be leaving out. So, since the odds of you being an avid collector of Linux ISOs seems pretty remote, you may as well just move on now, because you're not going to get any help pirating stuff here.
In the event you're looking to download only legitimate items, then I do apologize, but I somehow doubt that's necessary.
Yes, I am looking to download only legitimate items. I do not understand why then you said this wasn't needed. How can anyone download without a program? Maybe I'm too new to get it but I'm at loss here, how else can one download if they have no program for it?
When I first got my computer, I bought a book for it about tips and tricks for new users - it was this book which recommended P2P programs so people can download legit items, so it said anyway.
It's news to me then if someone can download legit items any other way. If you know of how to, or anyone knows for that matter, please inform me. If no one can offer any ways to do it, then I still could use a P2P program since they CAN be for legit downloading (or else CNET wouldn't be offering nearly 3000 of them for downloading).
Thanks.
P.S. Because I noticed that CNET offers nearly 3000 downloads of P2P programs (as of 10-27-09, 4PM EST when I searched CNET for them) like LimeWire, it's seems you're incorrect - they know it can be used for legit downloading or else they wouldn't offer these programs. CNET is known for offering legit downloads, unless you're saying CNET is no longer legit in which case I should rethink my position.
If it seems legit enough for CNET to offer them as downloads, then I don't have a problem with them either.
Two different subjects. Offering programs like LimeWire for download is NOT the same as actively aiding people in their efforts to pirate things. And probably 99.99% of all P2P content is illegal. There are legit uses for it, but very very few people use them for such.
This is the same basic argument used when Sony was trying to get the VCR banned in the US. Everyone knew that pretty much everyone was making illegal dubs of VHS tapes, but of course that didn't preclude people from making copies of say a wedding video someone shot, or a home movie, or even recording their favorite TV shows to watch later. So, in the US at least, it's not illegal to make available a program that CAN be used for illegal means, but it IS very much illegal to actively engage in assisting someone doing something illegal. That's called aiding and abetting, or being an accessory.
So all I'm saying is that it is the rare instance when someone is using a P2P program for totally legit purposes, and the rules of this forum explicitly forbid helping people using pirated goods, or obtaining pirated goods. So don't be surprised if A) what you're doing isn't as legal as you think it is, and/or B) your threads get locked suddenly. I suppose if what you're doing is completely above board, then you won't have anything to worry about.
I was just trying to save some time if you were looking to pirate movies, music, software, TV shows, or things of that nature. If you're an avid collector of Linux ISOs or other legal content, then carry on.
