Black tape fix - confirmation it works

by ramind - 10/14/09 3:24 PM In reply to: Sick of Broken Touchpad by EvgaCard

Just to confirm that the black tape fix mentioned in previous posts worked for me first time and so far without any recurrence of the problem. I've re-started the machine a few dozen times since and my trackpad has not inverted since. I've been luckier in not having the jumpy cursor problems.

Most importantly to record my thanks for the good folks who contribute to these forums in general and this one in particular. You fill in where the awful corporations fail so miserably. If only the customer service people searched the net on their own problems and invested in some electrical insulating tape - think how much good will they would get back. I will not be buying this brand again...

black tape fix- not working

by hschoenmaker - 10/22/09 7:09 AM In reply to: Black tape fix - confirmation it works by ramind

I have performed the black tape repair for the touch pad on my VGN-SZ71XN, but unfortunately after two days the mouse reversal has come back. A question: I applied the black tape at three sides of the pad, NOT at the side where the buttons are. Is this correct?
Your input is appreciated

Don't know if this will help...

by patent_attorney_9 - 10/27/09 8:10 AM In reply to: sony vaio, touchpad behaving badly ? by AA90278

FYI, there are several class action lawsuits related to the touchpad problems many people appear to be having...

Here is a link to one: http://www.abingtonlaw.com/sony-VAIO-touchpad-class-action.html

Don't know how much this will help, but hopefully it will at least get Sony to issue a recall or compensate consumers in some manner.

reverse touchpad on vaio

by taghavi2 - 11/20/09 6:13 PM In reply to: sony vaio, touchpad behaving badly ? by AA90278

Before you wake your computer, completely cover the touch-pad with your hand (make sure your hand/fingers is in contact with as much area of the touch-pad as possible; then wake-up your laptop.

Frankly, I am not totally sure why this works but I think it may have to do with the fact that the touch-pad uses impedance to track your finger. By covering it, you sort of give it a set and repeatable initial condition that ensures a repeatable outcome.....

I tried many remedies before but they were never better than random. This one has never failed me.
