External HDD crashed, looking to use online "cloud" back-up instead.
Anyone out there using a service they really love? What are you paying for it?
But its getting to be a headache to manage because i have so much my computers running super slow when its backing up.. in fact i don't think there is a good service.
For online backup I would recommend backupandshare.com to all home users, it is a great service for personal use or people looking for inexpensive online backup. It is very simple to use with features like incremental automatic and scheduled backup. It is a secured, easy-to-use online backup service that automatically keeps files and digital assets safe and easily accessible.
With backupandShare Windows mobile backup solution comes free. No wonder they are the current topper in this business, check them out http://top10onlinebackup.com/.
Yep, I'm using idrive and am extremey happy with it. It backs up my windows home server, I pay about $5 a month, great service, it just works. And you can access your online files from any pc. The price I'm paying aloes you to upload up to 150gb. It's slightly more expensive if you need more
I don't use it, but it seems to fall into the $5/month category. Lots of marketing for on radio.
Kinda surprised to not see Amazon S3 in the top 10; NAS?...
A friend of mine uses Amazon's S3 service and enjoys it very much.
I've been thinking about getting an online back up account, but I think I'd rather just get a NAS device for extra storage and back-up and not deal with subscription fees... but that's just me. It would be convenient to have access to files from anywhere, but I don't think I'd use that function very much...and although I'm sure there would be safeguards, I just don't care to take the risk either...
Best,
Shalin
if you have to download all your data again? With 500 plus gigs of data I just don;t see how online backup is a very efficient solution. It would take days to get back up and running. I'm sure Comcast might be sending me threatening letters too.
I used Mozy for a while but I had quite a few problems with the software not starting the service property and another issue in which I wasn't able to restore my files. I had a very poor support experience when trying to get it resolved. After that, I made the switch to Carbonite. So far, it's working well and I found better performance when uploading new files. It has a few issues on Windows 7, however.
i love dropbox but there is no 5 or 10 dollar option... as a service tho its AWESOME.
also some ppl use gmail drive. may be more crude but would be free...
There are a lot of very good 3rd party services let you backup online. I have selected Backupandshare.com as it is reliable and secure online backup service I have seen so far but with almost everything you need as an online backup application. I choose this service over a 6 month ago and have been very happy with them. With BackupandShare.com, windows mobile backup solution is available free, so now my mobile data is also backed up.
With such great features and value for money, I must admit I made a right decision.
