pesky icon

by user470 - 10/24/09 1:17 PM

I have Windows XP on my computer, and I have a pesky icon on my taskbar. When I run my mouse pointer over this icon, it states "COM3: 0 bytes in, 0 bytes out" and I want to get rid of that icon. Can anyone tell me how to delete that icon permanently. Thank you. user470

Sounds like something related to a dial-up modem. Do you have one installed? Do you use it?
What are the options on right-click?

That's half an answer.

You don't use it. But do you have it installed? Have a look in Device Manager. If found, disable it.
