Hi ,
I got Linksys wireless router and i think it might be hacked as i am getting really low internet speed internet so i just wanted to know how can i find out the number of laptops/desktops which is connected to my Wireless Router?
Thanks
Some show a listing of connected devices there but I can't tell you exactly where to look. You might also look for the router's event log for suspicious activity.
As mentioned, you can use the web interface (DHCP enabled network, not static IPs). I've not found it 100% reliable though, but it could give you an indication if there is another device connected wirelessly.
If it's like my Linksys, on the web utility navigate to Status tab -> Local Network -> DHCP Clients Table. Any devices that have connected via DHCP should show up in this table.
We know that WEP or less security is no security. We also know that MAC filters don't work as well as hiding the SSID. So try this. Set it up per this forum's STICKY NOTE. In short it's like this:
a. router defaults.
b. simple ssid and broadcast it.
c. WPA
Yes there are claims that WPA is crackable but when I looked at it again it is not simple enough yet. Let's go with WPA today.
No one will get in except those you authorize.
