Microsoft Windows 7 is available now. Do you plan to install Windows 7?
- Yes, I'm going to upgrade from Vista.
- Yes, I'm going to upgrade from XP.
- Yes, I'm going to install it on my Mac.
- Yes, I'm going to purchase a new computer with Windows 7 installed.
- No, I'm going to stick with Vista. (Please explain why.)
- No, I'm going to stick with XP. (Please explain why.)
- I don't do Windows.
Three computers with XP

I have three computers running XP and two of them are too old to run Windows 7. I will stick with XP until the computers fail because I prefer to have all my computers running the same OS.
My daughter does technical data handling at Microsoft. The other day I asked her what operating system she uses at work. She said XP Pro.

At home I will be upgrading all my PCs to Windows 7 only because I work for myself in the Personal Computing field.
What makes you say an old PC can't be upgraded to Windows 7?
You should at least run the upgrade advisor on it.
You might be surprised at what Windows 7 might do for it.
I have a netbook that was running Windows XP Home.
I upgraded it to Windows XP PRO and I will be upgrading it
to Windows 7 Ultimate.
I am not expecting lightning fast performance, but I am still expecting the same performance I got in Windows XP.
I just want the bells and whistles available to me that are in Windows 7.
Concerning Win XP & Win 7.

Vista is horrible as per alot of people & web sites. Well, Win 7 is just Vista revamped in my opinion. Just about everyone got used to XP & many Tech Support agencies are getting less calls. Therefore, it's time for Operating System software writers to make a new OS to once again confuse us all over again in order to make more money. Win 7 is available now & Microsoft is already talkng about Windows 8 for 2010.
What does this tell you or suggest? If software development companies are smart, they will do what they always do & continue to support the use of Win XP untill they have no other choice but not to use it. The same goes for us all. Use it untill you no longer can.
Microsoft can always try to make us buy a new OS every 2 years now if there's any truth about Win 8 in 2010. I did read that online.
I mean they just came out with Win 7 & there's talk of 8 already.
I just read online in a couple of forums that alot of people already think Win 7 will fail & won't be here that long either because it's too much like Vista,& basically has the same features & more. It is alot faster & tricky to use. That's why people who got used to XP will stay with it untill they can't. A perfect example is how many people coninued to use Win 98 long after it was no longer supported.
You can do this as long as software continues to use an OS.
Microsoft or any other OS writer can make as many Operating systems as they want. It's up to the software developer to continue the support of the OS untill they can't. I know it's a never ending cycle.
I'll stick with current OS's and not buy Windows 7

One laptop & the mini run XP Pro; the other laptop has XP home; the desktop came with Vista. Of the 3, I prefer XP Pro, as Vista is a problem. I refuse to spend more money upgrading-will do so only if a computer needs to be replaced & it comes with Windows 7.
Will stick with XP for now

As for me, I'm planning to stick with XP Pro for quite a while. Windows 7 sounds fun, but not worth the expense and installation time when XP Pro does what I need it to do. I plan to wait until my computer is hopelessly outdated to get Windows 7 on a new machine.

Aanother order of Ideas, my p.c. aare old pentium IV, and in My Country Microsoft donīt sales, any upgrading sofware. You need to buy the for example windows 7...................

And evidently I'm not the only person who sees things this way. I am able to do everything I need to do on Windows XP, and with years of usage I know all the "tricks" and pitfalls. So why on Earth would I want to spend money to purchase a new operating system, then invest significant time and effort learning the new UI, and for what? To continue doing what I am already doing with Windows XP?
Until the day comes when some "killer app" is released that won't run on XP, I just don't see most people shelling out the bucks to upgrade--at least not from Windows XP.
Now people who have already had Vista shoved down their throat and are tired of using it probably WILL shell out to buy Windows 7. However this segment of the market will not be as big as Microsoft hopes, because the number of people that bought Vista was much less than they had expected.
The vast majority of PC users--including myself and my family--will keep using Windows XP until it's no longer supported.

It works great for me and it is mandatory for me to use with my work at home programs. I will probably upgrade the Vista eventually since it is not user friendly and takes forever to do things, but I do like the looks of the desktop with Vista).

I read in PC World magazine article in June 2008, that Microsoft will cut off all support in 2010 for Window XP, making it obsolete. The cutoff Hour is near. My initial reaction was to try Windows Vista, I tried it in 2009, for one week and scraped it, re-installed XP, been a user since 2003. Now have I excepted the fact, that Microsoft is forcing US to change, it took me 3 years to realize what this Operating System Giant was up to. When you Invent, Invent and Invent new products, you get new customers and your profits increase. Its all about money. Regardless if XP users buy Windows 7 the market share of new computer buyers will increase. I thought it it would cost a lot, however, to install Windows 7 on three computers it only cost $149 (Family Pack), and you must pay for upgrade of your PCI bus cards, and other programs deemed obsolete, by the Windows 7 Upgrade Analyzer. I have excepted the fact, its a New Era!

XP does everything I need and I know how it works. All my peripherals work with it, too.
My PC is almost six years old, so it wouldn't work well with either Vista or W7.
I'm not going to press my luck with this computer for very much longer, so I will be buying a new computer within about six months and then I will be forced to go with 7.
I'm sure I will adapt as I have done before, but I really don't see why I should have to, really.
I'd keep my old HP forever, but I know that systems fail and there's no use pushing the envelope too far.
What do you call an Old Computer.

Well, there are 2003-04, 2006-07, 2008-09 technologies, in Motherboard specifications, installed on your computer, are not that much different. According to law, which is, TCP/IP (Tranmission Conrol Protocal and Internet Protocal), their (Operating Systems) must work on all computers. They may tell you you need new this and new that, however, it will work. Peripheral inventors(ATI-AMD and others) has the SPECs to Windows 7, and in collaboration with Microsoft will updgrade, to make more money. Why spend money buying the same or so called new computer, having the same features as 2006-07-08-09 technology. That is what most people do, and that is what the computer manufacturers want, is more sales.

I bought a new laptop about 6 months ago and getting it with XP was impossible from the store, and equally impossible for me to do manually due to the warranty consequences if I reverted. So I had Vista shoved down my throat. Now I must pay for Windows 7 to **get rid** of Vista which I definitely want to do. Ughhh!
