I came home expecting my pre-order copy to be in the mail, but to no avail. Have any of you run into this same thing?
Yep, but in my case I have tracking info that tells me a UPS delivery driver took about 8 hours to drive a stretch of road that should have only taken 5 at the most.
Give it a day or two for "incidentals" and then contact whomever you purchased your preorder from and let them sort it out.
It seems they didn't plan this well and hadn't even charged my card, even though I purchased it in June. I called last night to go ahead and cancel. I figured that I'll buy a new computer in the next 6-8 months. Well, it took me an hour of being on hold and I was able to cancel, but today I get a few messages on my email saying that they sent it out today. So, I guess they didn't cancel my order. Maybe I'll just sell it on ebay for a profit.
Often times they won't charge your credit card until it actually ships. It's just easier to deal with the accounting that way. So don't sell it for at least a few more days to make sure you don't wind up being charged for it.
Also, if you happen to live in the UK, expect that Royal Mail strike to bugger things up a little.
Yes, I pre-ordered months ago and I got an email on Oct 23 saying Win 7 would arrive Oct 30--the 9th day after it was released to retail!
What the ____?
I got mine yesterday via hunky (Arent they all?) UPS guy around 11:30AM, I think...It was before noon, I'm sure...
I'm thinking they might have canceled it. I have the tracking info and it says that it had an origin scan and departure scan on the 22nd, but hasn't had a scan since.
I has just shown an arrival scan near me and is being delivered. I guess I'll still plan on selling it, because I bought it for the 50% off pre-order price.
