I am looking to perhaps get a Samsung LED tv, but am confused about the various versions. I see user reviews for the 6000-7000 models where people say that this is really an edge-lit LED set, while the specs say it's a backlit LED set. Which is correct? Or am I just confused about something....?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

JCesana,
The UNxxB6000/7000/7100/8000 are LED edge-lit panels. The UNxxB8500 is the LED back-lit panel with white LEDs directly behind the panel.
Does that help?

Thank you, yes it does.
Than this should be designated in the model's name. It sounds pretty deceiving to be calling it a LED TV if it really isn't.
Also, what's the difference between the two "edge-lit and "back-lit"?......and what is a true LED set?
