I divide my time between two different states, with a PC in each, one running XPSP2 and the other Vista. I have a WD portable hard drive that I use it to transport documents, photos, etc back and forth to copy to each computer.
I would like to be able to install Portable Apps on the PHD, especially since I have no browser on the PHD. But when I try to download any program, it automatically downloads to a folder - My Downloads - using my PC's regular browser, which is Firefox 3.5.3.
When I click on the "Download Now" button for this application on the Download.com site (or anywhere else, for that matter), I have no clue how to get it to download to my PHD. Need help quickly, since I'm set to leave once again in a few days. Thanks!
Some download basics:
1. Generally you only download a setup program, let's say setup.exe. This might be different with portable apps.
2. A browser let you select in what folder the downloaded file should be stored. The exact details depend on the browser used.
3. You can use a file manager (Windows Explorer, My Computer) to copy or move the downloaded file to whereever you want.
4. Most setup programs (when run) let you choose where to store the program it installs. But again, that might be different with portable apps, because they aren't installed, just run.

I'll try to save it the way I always do, then copy it to the PHD.
