Hi Guys,
Last week I took the TV to Samsung's authorized repair facility and we have the quote! Guess what, this is caused by the inverter which is part of the LCD panel! So the quote is around 1700$... I will see what I can do with the credit card's warranty... Otherwise, from an engineering perspective, Samsung's TVs are crap!
And Guess what Samsung_tech, your service ain't any better!
Hope this helps...
If you leave the TV idle for a long time, the problem occurs more often, I am currently working away from home so I turn the TV on once every week... This is how I could reproduce the problem when we brought the TV to the repair facility... And the bill is 1700$ to change the panel with the power inverters! Funny. This is because the inverters are hooked to the LCD panel...! ***They deserve a class action***, the problem is all over the web and they act as if they don't know what is going on. I paid close to 2000$ for this TV, it is definitely frustrating to buy a new one within a year, knowing that I turn it on once or twice a week!!! You can count me IN.
The board was replaced once already. Now same clicking problem (15)times to go on. Everyone should demand a recall on this power supply board.Let's take a poll.
Hi Samsung_HD_Tech,
It seems to me that the problem is the same with many of these posts- the picture goes on for 2-3 seconds then goes completely black (no back light). So there are many cases in which this is a problem. I don't see how that is specific to one LCD TV.
Calling Customer Service is the first thing that anyone does when problems arise. If the first response from customer service is "Sorry, your TV is out of warranty", then what is a customer to do? You're telling basselam to have someone come out and check the set. Well, I've done that twice. Each time the problem arose, by the time a Tech was able to come out, the TV would work again.
All anybody wants is that the $1500-$2300 investment in a TV they made, be worth it - i.e. that the TV works properly for longer than a year. Do you think that is too much to ask?
HDTech,
I am myself an engineer and it is becoming obvious to me that you guys know what is the problem with your TVs and still act as innocents! I work on very complex equipments and by describing a problem, we can usually nail it down to a few failure options.
I have been advised to change my inverters (which are hooked to the LCD panel = 1700$!!), can you comment on this...?!?!
Anyway, your customer service sucks! There is a problem with your equipment, Own it...
AND NO THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM.
The complaints on this thread are so similar that the best first course of action is to file complaints with both of the following agencies.
The Better Business Bureau

If this doesn't work then... is there and Esq. in the thread?
I have tried the following with MY particular "picture with no sound" issue (since Samsung HD Tech seems to think this problem is case by case) and it has worked:
1. Turn on the T.V.
2. let it run for approx 30 minutes (use your mute button if you don't want to hear the sound)
3. Turn off the T.V. and let it sit for approx 10-15 minutes
4. Turn it on.
With my LNT-4661 this has worked for me everytime. I could be damaging the TV but it's better than me damaging it with my foot out of frustration.
I hope this helps anyone. It's at least worth a try.
Cheers
I have posted this before and have keeped mine going for over 1 year now. I turn on the AC in my house for 15 min and mine will work everytime. I have tried everything suggested for 100 times and nothing has worked, I was told early on it had something to do with moisture in the air. Right now where I live in San Diego it is cool outside and humidity is low and I have no problem. I ran my AC all summer and it never failed once. I turned the AC off for 2 days and Bam it would not turn on problem back. Once it rains and it's cold outside...I am screwed!
My Samsung LN-T4661 was purchased from Circuit City in Florida less than 2 years ago and is experiencing the identical problems. Turns on just for a second or two(long enough to see what input you are on) then screen goes blank. Sound works fine. How many people need to have this SAME problem with the SAME T.V. before Samsung does something???? I loved the picture of this tv while it was working, but this is unnacceptable!!! If anyone has any information on this feel free to email me at stuttgart914@hotmail.com

Aloha folks... I've had my LNT4665F for about 3 years now. Just after the 1.5 year mark, we started getting the startup with sound but no screen. It occurs very distinctly when the humidity is high... I can look up on a cloudy muggy day when I get home and know the TV isn't going to work.
We tried to get a repair man out once but it takes so long to get anything done (we live in Hawaii where everyone moves on 'island time') the TV is always working by the time we get an appointment.
I'm going to pursue a repair once we get back to the mainland (next summer) but in the meantime, everyone save yourself the hassle and buy a Sony. They are very proud of their work and stand by their products much more than Samsung, who doesn't have nearly as much of a customer support structure, or for that matter a reputation to uphold.
For some magical reason my TV started working again and has not had a problem for 2 months now. I am always concerned there will be some big sporting event or movie I have rented and TV won't turn on. I have not seeked a repair estimate simple because to open up the TV would cost more than it is worth. Mine is 2.5 years old and so obsolete it just makes no sense. For this problem to occur after how much I spent on this unit is short of criminal.
