I paid $449.00 with no rebates all the reductions were "instant". I am using it right now and it's perfect what I need. Plays dvd's, burns dvd's, burns music, internet, wireless, beautiful bright screen, crisp and clear, 14" screen. I've no problems really. I like, I like!! who needs thousands of dollars nowadays for a nice new laptop... NOBODY!!

Including all upgrades, I paid about $1,150.

Including all upgrades, I paid about $1,150 for a Dell Inspiron XPS Generation 2. In the beginning I paid about $900 about half a year ago. I upgraded the operating system from Microsoft Windows XP Professional to Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate for a bit more than $250 (but I did not buy the upgrade, I bought the full version which can upgrade and which also can do a clean install). That upgrade brought the final price to $1,150.

$1350

by d_adams - 10/22/09 9:26 AM In reply to: How much did you pay for your latest laptop? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I paid $1350 for a 2.53GHz 13" MacBook Pro in July. Great laptop. I haven't been this pleased with a purchase since I paid $250 for a first gen iPod touch.

Other laptops I've owned:

My very first machine was a ancient Compaq Armada laptop (1996-7 model I think) that my grandpa bought for 20 bucks from his neighbor. I used it for about a year to write essays on.

Next, I refurbished a Dell Latitude C600 (2001 model, I think) that was given to me (broken) by a friend. Massive upgrade on the Compaq, but still a pretty limited machine. It is still in working order, but I outgrew it after about a year of use....

...and replaced it with a Dell Inspiron 1501 (a few years ago this was one of the most popular computers of all time, I think). I paid $500 for it (Dell certified refurbished). It was a great machine, or so I thought, but once again, I outgrew it after a year and a half. I tried upgrading it (it's now running with maximum specs), but I still needed more power and features.

So, I bought this MacBook Pro. It's frickin awesome. I have yet to reach the boundaries of what I can do with it.

I've never used a desktop as my main computer (though I own one that I built). Laptops are just to handy!
