I need help download AVG. I keep getting error stating my computer may not be connected to internet when it clearly is. Please Help!
& it has added AVG to the host file preventing access. Try other security sites like Avast! or Avira & see if they're blocked also?

What is your OS? Are you logged on as Admin if say you're Vista?

I have Windows XP and I did try Avira and I was still unable to download the anti-virus software. I am logged in as administrator. I am baffled and frustrated. I don't know what to do next. It's like the infection or virus or whatever isn't allowing any anti-virus software through. Do you have any suggestions?
Use a friend's or family member's computer and download Malwarebytes anti-malware and it's manual update from the link below.. Once downloaded, rename the program installer "mbam-setup.exe" file to something else like "killit.exe", then copy the installer file and the update file to a CD or flash drive.. Transfer the file to the infected machine, then install the "killit.exe" file, then run the update to get the program current.. After that, run a full system scan and delete anything it finds.
Malwarebytes Download Link (Click on the download now button and then yes to the agreement and the download will start)

Malwarebytes Manual Updater link (This is a direct download link for the current defintions)

SuperAntiSpyware may also help. The below links though are NOT direct download links. I would try MBAM first.

SuperAntispyware Manual Updater (There are directions and a manual defs download link at the bottom of this page)

I have a similar problem to Angel7214. I have been trying to download Avast free and/or AVG free and it keeps saying internet connection not detected when I know I'm online. With Avast I get the error codes: A setiface error has occurred: 536870929. Try to reinstall or contact support, please; and Avast!: The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error. With AVG I get AVG error code: 0XE001C04E. I would appreciate any help you can offer. I'm using a Compaq Presario CQ70 with Vista Premium OS. I have no antivirus and have tried to install with my firewall on and off. I have also already tried Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I then got error code:732(0,0) It did not find any malware or viruses. Before all this started I had Avast but uninstalled it because I was getting sick of every item on ebay setting off it's alarm. Lots of false positives. It also wouldn't update.
Hello,
Please try to download and install full installation file (not the download manager):

I tried to download the avg free from the link provided but it is still not recognizing my internet connection. I am definitely online. I can't figure out what the problem may be. I use a wireless Dlink router with a cable modem, Compaq CQ70. I'm having this issue with Windows help and support icon too. It just keeps saying I've lost my internet connection and to try again while I'm obviously still online. Any ideas?
Dusan_AVG.....I've gone to your link and all the downloads are the 800KByte web installer executables....I cannot find a link/path to get the FULL installation package for AVG FREE. Can you point me in the direction of that file/exe ?......AVG 8.5 was about 65,000KB.
Thanks !!!
Full installation file should be here:

Running XP Home 32-bit.
In ten attempts to dowload AVG Free 9, I am getting message MSVC Redistributable failed. Attempts were Firefox and IE. For some I disabled ZoneAlarm Pro, which has no anti-virus feature/
Have tried various tips on this Forum, including run %TEMP%
Have manually deleted and registru-cleaned all AVG references after each failed install - except avgsstx.dll
MUST ADMIT - 1. Avast! installation failed too. 2. Avira installed but wouldn't update - by this time I was too frazzled to consult their help list.
BUT - Microsoft Security Essentials installed and is operatng.
HOWEVER - I would much prefer to stick with known and trusted AVG, so any help, or debug at AVG or CNet, would be mega.
Had the same thing happen to me too. I traced the manual update files direct from the AVG site. When chosing update, update from the file you downloaded (its no an executable!!) after I installed all the updates It worked fine for me, guess because they make it harder for free users people wll get frustrated and buy the thing ![]()
Or get the latest free edition (9.0)and check the Grisoft site for removal instructions of the "old" AVG first before you install 9.0!! http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=886&file=15&evp=dcdcda7ae8a7f7fc5c8683524884d470
Sometimes the registry gets messed up..
