My Desktop Wallpaper Not Showing

by LordDeerstalker - 3/8/07 10:07 AM

I changed my wallpaper once then it disappeared and went to a blank blue one, I tried changing it again but it remained on the blank screen. What can I do to get my backgrounds up again?

It's possible that Active Desktop is enabled. To Disable Active Desktop. Open the Control Panel.
Open Display Properties.
Click the Desktop tab.
Click the Customize Desktop button.
Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.
Make sure all checkboxes in this window are un-checked including My Current Homepage.
Restart your computer.
If that doesn't correct the problem go to the link below and under the letter "W"--"Wallpaper - Desktop - Disable Changing" click on "Allow Wallpaper/Background Changes" to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

You could also try a System Restore to the closest date prior to when this problem began. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
Note that any updates or programs you installed during that timeframe between the System Restore date you choose and today will have to be reinstalled.

Desktop/Wallpaper Help

Right click on your desktop, click "Properties" then browse for your wallpaper selection, select your choice and select your "Position" box, ie; stretch, center or tile and click the box. That should take care of the problem unless you have chosen a wallpaper online that was a limited trial offer.
