My dad's looking to set up a forum - he doesn't have any experience with website hosting as of yet so I thought it might be better if his hosting has forum software included. (he already registered the domain(s) with GoDaddy but doesn't have hosting yet.)
- it seems GoDaddy now has forum software - phpBB (new), SMF (Simple Machines Forum), and Vanilla Forum - included with their basic package. Has anyone here used it?
Most of the reviews and opinions I've read of GoDaddy are pretty old so I'm trying to find out some people's thoughts about it now.
(Of course, I've seen many of horror stories about GoDaddy but take into consideration that with so many customers there's bound to be some dissatisfied people.)
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas or maybe info on a different hosting service that offers forum software?
thank you
What I find is that some expect not only the forum but support for the forum either in software education or to man the forums. Usually it's something misunderstood between the parties and not an actual forum issue.
Forums are a real drain on a company resource (you?) so are you really sure you have time for this?
Bob
If you haven't paid for the hosting yet, you might try to look at hostgator, they also offer same service as Godaddy.
Hostgator is a bit pricey than Godaddy but their hosting is faster.
My friend used Godaddy economy (no forums), but when his site started to grow, page loading became slower too. He switched to hostgator now.
Anytime, glad to help.
