Strange Snow Leopard "Select All" anomaly

I've noticed a peculiar behavioral glitch with the "Select All" command when using Column View with Snow Leopard. I use Column View as my default when double-clicking a folder or volume on my desktop.

I keep a number of folders on my desktop (Movies, Files, Temp, Music, etc.) for storing items before filing them away on an external HD or burning to DVD. If I double-click one of these folders, it opens in Column View with its contents displayed in the right column. However, typing command-A (Select All) at this point will select all the items in the *parent* folder - not the contents of the just-opened folder. And what's also odd is that the arrow that points to the contents of the just-opened folder is an *outline*, not a solid arrow. Clicking on the folder (which is already selected anyway) turns the arrow solid, and the Select All command works normally again (selecting contents).

It's a little hard to explain, so I may take some screen shots and post a link to them in a follow-up post.

Does this makes sense or sound familiar to anyone else? I've searched for info on this weirdness and come up blank. Thanks for reading - Tom
