Does anyone else have a 1st generation iPhone that no longer scans for WI-FI?
I've tried a number of recommended quick fixes (like turning off WI-FI & turning on Bluetooth, rebooting, turning off Bluetooth & turning on WI-FI), with no improvement or momentary results at best.
The weird thing is, it will respond to unfamiliar routers like at a friend's house or coffee shop hot spots in various cities, but not at home. I've updated my router firmware. I even bought a new router. We have 1 MacBook & 3 PCs with no other connectivity issues.
then try again

I am having the same problem... help!
3.1.2 came out today, and given that I've been having some battery and network issues over the past few weeks, I'm in the process of upgrading everything here.
I'd recommend doing the same. My 3G has no trouble with WiFi at all. If it ever does, then I'm SOL; my phone has been dropping network signals frequently. Hopefully the new update resolves the issue.

I called Apple and got tech support immediately. They said the new update would fix this... it did not originally, but after I redownloaded it, and reset network setting s to factory default and then rebooted... finally worked. Hopefully this will stay fixed. The original fix lasted just a few minutes, not until I completely factory reset the network did it kick in.
I have this problem also. Its just keeps looking but does not find either the home network or any other wifi spot that my notebook is finding. odd
Today I updated the software. I went to settings and reset to factory network settings, rebooted and the connection lasted for all of 30 seconds. ?????
