I bought the full version dvd and I have managed to dual boot vista and windows 7. It went very smoothly and I am very happy! I was dreading finding out which bits of hardware wouldn't work with windows 7 but I am pleased to report that it's all working and no need to buy a new printer, tv tuner etc... Happy days ![]()
Thanks for all your advice.
Yes, it will upgrade. Just check that your PC is compatible and meets the system requirements: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/upgrade?os=other

Just for clarification, can Windows 7 be installed without the previous OS you're upgrading from being installed? The Windows Vista Upgrade was extremely difficult to install without the previous OS (Windows XP) installed. One unsupported method was to install the Vista upgrade without authenticating it, and then install it again (upgrading). We didn't have the option of putting an XP CD in as proof of upgrade. One of the worst scenarios MS ever came up with. Hopefully that has been rectified in Win7.
I have just received a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium entitled "Upgrade designed for Windows Vista".
This week, having installed a previously pre-ordered Windows 7 Home Premium, I decided that our other PC could not cope and had reached the end of the road I ordered a new one in preparation for Windows 7.
I have installed the software but it does not recognise the security key.
Have I bought a pig in a poke? Should I return it to the supplier as I did not buy a Vista package?
Any comments would be helpful.
Regards,
