Samsung Electronic Lock SHS-3120?
by jaximflash - 10/4/09 5:18 PMI'd like to bring my house outside front door lock into the 21st century by replace it with a proximity electronic lock. I found the Samsung SHS-3120 lock on the net. Supposedly it is made for the US markets, but it concerns me that I cannot find this lock anywhere but eBay and a few select lock online retailers.

If one of the Samsung staff sees this thread, can you tell me why this lock isn't being sold at more regular stores? Any info you can provide would be great!

I'm not aware of the lock being distributed (or warrantied) in the United States. It is available in other regions, but I also am not aware of it having support in the U.S.
Now, that's not saying it's not a good unit, or that it wouldn't meet your needs, but you might want to check to see how the seller will handle a warranty for it. (Suggestion for the consumer: make sure it can be exchanged, and have it in writing)

Thanks for the response.
It doesn't seem like it has been distributed very widely in the U.S. yet. I'm still hoping Samsung pushes this lock to the market to more mainstream US distributes (i.e. Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, etc)
According to the following URL, this lock seems to be introduced at a trade show in Vegas this past April, so maybe it is still too early to go mainstream.
