Ken Burns new 10 part 20 hour special. It's wonderful, and the wonderful part that Republican's played in the creation of them. It also includes a period of Republican divisionism. and one of the most conservative Republicans (the "stand pat" Republicans who strived most solidly for the preservation of wilderness. It is a wonderful contemplative almost religious view of the issue.

parka for a few months of the years, and more in Alaska, might be a nice idea. However the government is over-extended as it is, so I am not suggesting it as a National Parka Plan or anything. That'd be taking the Nanny State a bit too far.

There MUST be a parka manufacturer somewhere which wants to become a big time winner of Bailout Lotto. ![]()
To paraphrase... once a park is lost (its' resources mined and logged out), it is lost forever... but if a park is saved today, from the pressures to develop its' natural resources, then it will be up to future generations to continue to guard that park. It gives future generations something to value, and to realize just how fragile what is worth preserving really is.
The criticism looks well founded even when viewed on a high def TV.
Quite a bit of interesting history.
Unfortunately I'm not good at sitting through long periods of history lessons, never have been.
Heck, I'll confess that the photography of the parks themselves in present day means as much to me as the history when watching, just to see the scenery.
