Low battery critical battery sounds don't play.

Windows Vista.
Have had the computer for 10 months. The battery warning sounds have never worked. I have checked all the settings.
Now I have the time to dedicate to getting it sorted out any ideas would be gratefully received.

Remember that's a known Windows bug.
