After years of hearing and seeing crawling insects and dust getting inside the back panel and backlight of lcd tvs and monitors this problem has not been properly addressed by these manufacturers. Just today I again witnessed it with my lcd monitor. I already informed the manufacturer and was promised that within today a technician will call me. This is easily resolved with technical people like me by simply opening the unit and do some cleaning regularly. But to the majority of the customers this is hell especially with their out of warranty units. Lucky for me I still have 4 days to go for my 1 year warranty before it expires ----- and I do not have to do the dirty job for them! Some suggestions were already made to remedy this flaw but to no avail. These manufacturers are either pretending to have no knowledge of the problem or are really ignorant of the situation. Just read the forums in the net and you will be shocked. THE CRAWLING INSECTS ARE SOMETIMES STACKED DEAD between the panel and backlight giving the impression of dead pixels ( this is my case ). The fine dust that settles in the surfaces of the inside panel and backlight will lessen the brightness or worse create dark lines in your screen. What an annoying experience. I suggest that after reading this you better examine your lcd screen. I just hope these manufacturers value our hard earned money for buying their expensive but defective units.
what the guy is thinking when you called, hehe.
Apparently nobody was aware of this problem. So, I adviced them to search the internet for them to learn that this is becoming a very common problem if the customers are not warned what to do.
A couple of years ago there was a TV commercial from one of the major pest control companies and their ad had what looked like a commercial for another product, like soap, and a roach crawled over the image. It was eerily creepy and great all at the same time. Did they use your TV as a reference for this ad?
Sorry Dan but it was not my tv. The most common insects I have encountered are the 1 millimeter or less mites. If these are stacked between the inside panel and backlight, they appear like DEAD PIXEL (s). For some tvs and pc monitors I have cleaned, small roaches and ants are also present.
Also, I am so happy that I don't live where there are too many bugs like that. Very interesting...I wonder if the TV is acting like a bug zapper of if they just pile up because they can't get out.
