When I try to playback videos taken on my Panasonic Lumix digital camera on my Canon camera, it won't playback and vice-versa. What is the reason? Is the format different? I can interchange memory cards from the 2 devices for picture playback but movies it won't play. Can memory cards be damaged by inserting into a camera that was not used to take the photos? Is there any chance the files would get deleted or distorted?
The makers don't agree on video encoding. In fact swapping cards around cameras is known to end badly. That is you find posts here where people have lost all that was on the card and come here to ask how to recover the pictures.
At least you've been warned.
