I am using Windows XP and AOL
I cannot open any .mim or mime files
Do I have to buy winzip? Alternatives?
Thanks
.mim files are "Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Message", and Mime are "Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Extension", so your normal email software should be able to open these.
Where do you get these files from?
Mark
The files I am getting are from the 2 of the boards at Ancestry.com. The other boards do not send mime files.
I was thinking that AOL is the problem maybe?
Any solutions?
I'm still not sure how these files are received. You say they are from the 2 boards at Ancestry.com. Do you mean their Message Boards?
If so, how do these files arrive, and why? Are they sent as responses to messages you post in the message boards? If so, they sound like email tracking messages, eg someone replies to a post you make, so that web site sends you an email to tell you someone has responded. I still believe they are email files, so what do you use to manage your emails?

Try the MIME decoder at the link below:
Etresoft Decoder (Shareware)(I believe it's free to try.)

Hope this helps.
