Natali mentioned the other day that she'd like a browser toolbar for looking for stuff in libraries. Some things that might be useful for that:
-- Jon Udell's "Library Lookup" adds a bookmarklet so that when you're finding books on Amazon.com you can look it up in your local library instead of buying it from Amazon: http://donttryit.com/2008/04/wfmw-the-best-of-edition-jon-udells-library-lookup/
-- The uber library catalog is WorldCat; it's a catalog OF library catalogs, so that you can search basically all libraries at once. You can tell it your location, so that it looks for stuff in the library nearest you. WorldCat has a Facebook app, a Firefox search, and a Google Toolbar add-on at http://www.worldcat.org/toolbars/default.jsp
-- The Firefox plugin Zotero lets you save all the data about books, articles, and other research materials to your own hard drive library, which you can then automatically look up in a public or college library: http://zotero.org
