Hi.
I have a 8GB, second generation iPod Touch running the 3.0 firmware (jailbroken through RedSn0w 0.8 on the Mac (13-inch MacBook Pro), Leopard 10.5.7, iTunes 9) and I would like to unjailbreak it. I've been having some minor issues (slowness, poor battery life) and don't take advantage of the jailbreak enough for it to be worth these problems. I also want to go to 3.1 anyways. I've heard many different, conflicting sets of instructions. Some say to restore from backup, some say to restore as new device, some say just to update. I've ehard that restore from backup does not remove all traces of the jailbreak (hidden apps, etc.). I do play games and would really like to keep all my saved games if that is possible.
I'd really appreciate it if someone would help me with this. As I said, I'm on a 13-inch MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.7 Leopard, iTunes 9 and the device is an iPod Touch 8GB, 2nd-gen.
Thanks in advance,
Joseph
The trouble you are having isn't the jailbreak it is the firmware. 3.0 is a major problem with a number of iPods and iPhones. Slow response. Email failure. Internet problems. Overheating is happening and some are exploding. And don't get me started on the upgrade 3.1. So many are screaming about how bad it is. Google...... firmware 3.1 trouble and you will see these problems. I still use firmware that was offered before 3.0. I will not upgrade and I'm a programmer.
I'd used 3.0 for a couple of months before jailbreaking, and it worked fine. I'm willing to take the risks of upgrading to 3.1, and downgrading is not an option for me. Since I posted last, my iPod has not been cooperating with WiFi. It first got IP addresses way out of my router's normal range. Now it is not working at all. (Yes' I've rebooted both the iPod and router. Rebooting the router temporarily solved it.) I've used a different OS 3.0 (non-jailbroken) iPod and it connects fine. I'd appreciate some advice on unjailbreaking and upgrading to 3.1, if anyone has any.
Thanks.
